Production Setup/Teardown

Stage Setup

The morning starts here! It’s a beast…but you can do it. The video explains how to put the stage together and the picture shows the configuration we use for Sunday AM. May the Nord be with you.

Digital Snake Setup

This rack goes right next to the stage (stage left) and is where we plug everything that happens on the stage in! All the cables we need are located in bins that come ratchet strapped to the racks. Everything is very well labeled! One long ethernet cable (found in Rack Main Bin) carries all that signal (via Dante network) to the soundboard. The digital snake rack also includes batteries, microphones, instrument wireless packs, vocal aviom mixers, and aviom plug in as pictured!

Aviom Setup

Each member of our team uses an Aviom A360 mixer to get a personal mix. Vocals mixers are in the digital snake rack, but the rest of the band has a personal mixer. They are labeled and simply need an ethernet cable found in Rack Main bin to be run to the Aviom input on the bottom of the digital snake rack.

Speaker Setup

Our JBL speakers get power from the power cable bin and use an XLR to run to the labeled output from the digital snake rack. They go right next to the stage on either side. The Mackie Sub gets the same cables and goes directly in the center under the stage as pictured!

Vocals Setup

Vocals will start by setting up mic and aviom stands all in the on-stage bag pictured. Aviom units are in the black Aviom bin. Mics and wireless aviom packs are in the digital snake rack pictured. After setting up the mics vocals typically have plenty of time to help other members of the team (drums and electric are typical laggers…)

Nord Setup (keyboard)

Bless the nord oh my soul! Typically on stage left by the drums, there is a dedicated keyboard bin which has a dual 1/4 cable to run the nord in stereo. There is also a Radial Pro DI2 pictured. 1/4 goes into input as pictured and then XLRs take it the rest of the way to the digital snake. Don’t forget about the sustain and expression pedal (also in keyboard bin).

Drum Setup

We like drums center stage! Our drumset includes a custom 14in Truth Snare as well as Istanbul hi hat, ride, and crash. Drum mics are in the accessories bin and are already attached to clips except the Beta 57 which attaches to a low profile stand for kick. Unlike the rest of the instruments, you will find a labeled group of XLRs to plug into the mics and then run to the digital snake.

Electric Guitar Setup

Typically from stage right, our electric players use their own pedals and amps. We have the capability of running either mono or stereo if you feel up to lugging two amps in! Using a Radial SGI box, we run via XLR to a back room (pictured) where amps get mic’d up. We have EV RE320 as well as Shure SM57 available. XLR cables then run from the microphones to the digital snake.

Acoustic and Bass

In the digital snake rack, acoustic and bass will find a Sennheiser wireless pack labeled for their instrument. These transmit to an LR Baggs para acoustic DI and a Sansamp para driver DI. Most of our players do not use pedals, but we are open to conversation!

Soundboard setup

The Allen and Heath SQ5 is in its own very protective rack. It goes in the back of the room and simply gets the other end of the ethernet cable from the digital snake rack.
