Day 3

Information vs. Revelation

Do you really know God?

Yesterday, we talked about the difference between seeking God’s power and seeking His presence. It’s not just about what God can do—it’s about who He is. Today, we take a deeper step. We move from experiencing moments with God to living in a constant relationship with Him.

God isn’t looking for people who know a lot about Him. He’s looking for intimacy.

Notice what God said through prophet Hosea:

“For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.” — Hosea 6:6 (NIV)

In the Old Testament, sacrifices were the external way to approach God, but often the people of Israel drew near without truly knowing Him. In other words, it’s as if God were saying: “Before doing, I want to be known.”

The “know” the Bible speaks of isn’t knowing about God—it’s knowing Him deeply. In Hebrew, the word is “yadá”, the same verb used to describe intimate relationships, like between spouses.

It’s as if God is saying: “I don’t want you to just have more information about Me. I want a personal experience with Me. I want your heart fully open in My presence.”

Now I ask you again… Do you know God?

Jesus was clear about this. Look at this verse:

"Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness.’” — Matthew 7:22-23 (NKJV)

It’s striking. Jesus doesn’t rebuke them for serving. He rebukes them for not knowing Him.

God can use you. You can serve, do things for Him—cast out demons, prophesy, perform miracles… but not truly know God.

It’s tragic to think we could spend our lives serving a God we don’t know.

Today, God isn’t asking for more activity. He’s asking for more depth. That your relationship with Him isn’t an “event,” but a daily reality. That you don’t live from isolated spiritual moments, but from constant communion. That you don’t settle for having served, but for being transformed in His presence.

Let’s pray together:

Lord, I don’t want to stay on the surface. I don’t want to settle for knowing things about You. I want to know You. I want You to be real to me every day. I don’t want it to be just about what I do in Your name, but about living in Your presence, hearing You, loving You, and being known by You. I surrender my mind, my heart, and my time. I want to cultivate a deep, intimate, and real relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Do you want to keep knowing God’s heart?

Then don’t miss Day 4: “Public vs. Private” – because it’s not about what others see… it’s about what God sees in the secret place!

Reflection Questions

  • Do I mostly know about God, or do I truly know Him through daily intimacy and relationship?

  • What practical steps can I take to move from surface-level knowledge into deeper, personal communion with God?
