Here’s an update from Jubilee about how we are all helping our community:

What started as 20 Bellevue School District families, has now grown to 385 families and an estimated 1,700 people now, and counting. They are being given groceries, hygiene products, and bulk items two times a week, thanks to the partnership of 20 local churches, several partner organizations, and many individuals. This has helped alleviate the stress and financial burden for families as many have lost their jobs and don’t know what the future holds. Every day we continue to add people to our waitlist as we adjust to help as many as possible. Here is one of the many thank you responses that have been sent in over the weeks:

Currently, 50 Bellevue School District families have been referred from schools and given financial assistance with their utility bills, rent, and basic needs with double the amount of support from $150 to $300. Here is one of many stories from families that have been supported:

Sasha is a single mom with three boys. On March 13th, she lost her full-time job at a Bistro due to COVID-19. She has never asked for help before and felt like she had failed by asking.  We were able to connect with Sasha and assisted her with her rent.  Also, we provided her with some resource links for further assistance and added her to our grocery assistance program. Her response: "I am so incredibly grateful!!! You have no idea what a relief it is to have this covered and to receive food for me and my boys." 

We have extended our hospitality with a lunch delivery service to 22 seniors in our community who are feeling isolated and are unable to leave their homes. This brightens their day with hot meals dropped off once a week, and a wave and hello from a safe distance. Several of these seniors are homeowners from the Jubilee Service Day Home Projects.
